I am not a dirty person by any means, but I definitely don’t stress over deep-cleaning my apartment. I am terrible about buying all the apartment necessities-they can really add up. Luckily I have found some amazing replacements for around the house problems.

Here ya go:

Alka-seltzer

Clean a toilet. Drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets, wait twenty minutes, brush, and flush. It can also soothe insect bites. Just dissolve tablets in water and use a wash cloth to apply the liquid to the bites.

Baby powder

Repel ants. Ants will not walk through a line of baby powder. Give your hair a dry shampoo. Work baby powder into your hair, then brush it out. Untangle a chain necklace. Dusting the chain will make it easier to untangle.

Bounce sheets

Rub down hair shaft to get rid of static. Also perfect as a mosquito repellent if you rub a sheet on your arms, legs, and clothes.

Club soda.

Change blond hair dyed green by chlorine back to its original color. Make fluffy pancakes and waffles by substituting club soda for the liquids.

Chapstick.

Stop bleeding while shaving. Dab on some chapstick if you nick yourself. If you have a stuck zipper, rub chapstick along the teeth of the zipper to make it unstick.

Colgate

I put a dab of toothpaste on before I go to bed at night if I need to dry up pimples. Deodorize smelly hands by using it to wash them with water. Remove Kool-aid moustaches from kids’ faces.

Cool whip

Slather it on if you have a sunburn. Thaw frozen fish by placing it in a pan and cover with Cool Whip.  The desert topping eliminates the frozen taste, returning the fresh-caught flavor. Also, Condition your hair. Apply one-half cup Cool Whip to dry hair once a week as a conditioner.  Leave on for thirty minutes, then rinse a few times before shampooing thoroughly. Soothe the burn on the roof of your mouth from hot pizza. Fill your mouth with Cool Whip to coat the lesion.

Clear nail polish

Have a run in your tights? Prevent fabric from fraying. Protect shirt buttons. Paint over the center of the button to reinforce the threads. Repair a small dent in a window, auto windshield, or wood floor.

Floss

Not just for your teeth. You can use it to hang pics and as a knife replacement for slicing cake and cheese. Kidd might want to think about using this method.

Reynolds wrap foil

Keep dogs and cats off furniture. Place pieces of Reynolds Wrap on the furniture. The sound of rustling foil frightens pets. Clean pots and pans when camping. A crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wraps makes an excellent pot scrubber. Speed up your ironing. Place a piece of aluminum foil under the ironing board cover to reflect the heat from the iron.

Vodka

Put on a cotton ball and rub on face to tighten up pores. Also it can help relieve swimmers ear, relieve a sore throat, clean off lipstick from clothing, and remove bumper sticker from car

Honey

Mix w banana for facial mask, eat on crackers to flush out alcohol when hungover, and Make children sleepy at bedtime and help prevent small children from wetting the bed. A teaspoon of honey at bedtime will act as a sedative to a child’s nervous system and will attract and hold fluid in a child’s body when they are sleeping. Honey should not be fed to infants under one year of age.
